So the Academy decided to honor The Departed, a rather silly cops and mobsters movie that expresses rather retrograde sentiments about society (i.e. people are bad, deal with it). Scorsese was better thirty years ago, but he's stuck in the mobster worship mentality if he's not having a peculiar fascination of ruthless, deranged capitalists like Howard Hughes. And who cares about him winning the Oscar anyway? Hitchcock, Kubrick, and Altman never did, but Ron Howard has...uh, yeah.
