Spitting Punchlines
Dayum. Saw this clip from the Daily Show last night, with their new Middle East correspondent Aasif Mandvi acting as though all of the Muslim world sees the violence and chaos with the rose-colored rhetoric of the White House. My favorite line:
“Over the years, we’ve grown accustomed to thinking of ourselves as you think of us: tiny, abstract drops in an oil field of possibility. Whether re-drawing our borders without regard for ethnicity or religion, or experimenting with unfamiliar forms of governance, we always welcome the chance to test the latest theories of your political scientists.”
What could never be said on American television in the bitter, furious tone it deserves, Mandvi is able to get on the air with sarcasm and chuckling (and slightly uncomfortable) studio audience.

It was a thing of beauty, much like the bitch
slapping Colbert gave Chimpy McDunderhead and the
press.
