Well, I am cautiously optimistic that I may have avoided the temporary site shut-down. Last week, I realized that my domain name, lyingmediabastards.com, was about to expire. And the renewal process, which normally should have taken about three mouse clicks to accomplish, instead took five days of emails, phone calls, failed transfer attempts, grinding teeth, etc. But things seem to have finally been resolved this morning, the day after the domain officially expired. I think this means we’re in the clear.
The reason for all this confusion was that my official domain registrar was a company that hosted my site several years ago. But since I no longer had an account with them, I there was no way I could ask them to renew it. And every step I took that seemed to be the logical way of solving the problem made things worse. The moral of the story is “don’t do that.”
So I think we’re good. Today I’ll be busy up in LA, recording some new Axis of Justice radio shows with guest host Wayne Kramer of the MC5. Should be interesting.
But I will soon return to my ranting, and we can all do the dance of joy.
