Lying Media Bastards

April 24, 2006

Can’t believe I haven’t posted this article yet:

The Worst President in History? One of America’s leading historians assesses George W. Bush

It’s largely what you would expect, except it is actually a bit worse. One astounding fact struck me more than any other:

According to the Treasury Department, the forty-two presidents who held office between 1789 and 2000 borrowed a combined total of $1.01 trillion from foreign governments and financial institutions. But between 2001 and 2005 alone, the Bush White House borrowed $1.05 trillion, more than all of the previous presidencies combined

Everybody catch that?

He ran up 200 years’ worth of debt in 5 years!!

  1. One tiny thing (I’m just listening to the show now; I know, I’m late…):

“Habeas corpus” actually is closer to “bring me the body” than “show me the evidence”; it’s used to enforce someone’s right to trial.

  2. That was the one bit of the article I underlined.

Yeah, I’m the only person in the world who still reads the paper version of these things.

  3. Yeah, I know about habeas corpus, but I felt like I was going on enough of a tangent to not have to go into latin lessons. So I simplified.

  4. It’s completely believeable. Any person who thought
he would be any different than Reagan or Bush Sr.,
and anyone who thought he would do anything other
than continue is father’s agenda, must have been in
    a coma since 1980.
