I don't want to underestimate the power of fruit. I know the threat that a renegade tomato could pose to a new tux or one of the Bush twins' Badgley Mishka gowns, but is anyone else a little freaked out by the regulations of this particular inauguration? and his whole second term agenda of bringing democracy and freedom to the world? I feel that's a bit lofty... and Roman... and Fascist. Especially when the only way he knows how to spread freedom is by bombing the shit out of people.

On election night, the city of Boston threw a party to watch the election returns. A certain heartthrob of mine was even playing (obsession: official). BUT, the party was only open to volunteers and people who had "connections".

Apparently, being a resident of Boston - and funder of the big bash, bearer of street closings, etc - wasn't enough to gain entrance. Which I suppose I can understand, even though it pissed me off.

Anyway, my point is, as I was standing at the gate trying to figure out how I could get into the party, the security people announced things that were prohibited: Umbrellas, etc. And fruit.

It sounds silly, but when you start thinking of all the ways fruit could ruin a politician's party, it actually makes sense.
